Youth and creativity

A new generation of winemakers along the Middle Franconian Bocksbeutel Road are now beginning to make their mark and show just how dynamic this region is. They are bringing their excellent training to bear as they join family businesses. Bursting with fresh ideas, they are linked through one thing above all else: their passion for wine.

Big Bang

A new generation of winemakers along the Middle Franconian Bocksbeutel Road are now beginning to make their mark and show just how dynamic this region is. They are bringing their excellent training to bear as they join family businesses. Bursting with fresh ideas, they are linked through one thing above all else: their passion for wine.

A school project successfully and courageously taken further by three young winemakers and a sommelier is a case in point: their fine-bodied fruity “Big Bang” wines, cloudy with yeast, come in 250 ml bottles for shaking and are rapidly conquering bars, pubs and discos. www.bigbangwein.de

Vielfalter

Vielfalter is a white cuvée which has now been blending a variety of different factors together seamlessly for more than ten years: lightness, the highly variable (German “vielfältig”) Middle Franconian geological make-up of the area where Vielfalter is cultivated, and the strengths and distinctive qualities of each of the winemakers. Twelve young winemakers collaborate every year to bring different grape varieties together in a Vielfalter Cuvée which also represents an act of homage to their native place, the small Middle Franconian subregion within the larger tradition of Franconian winemaking where a particularly large number of butterfly species (German “Falter”) are found and where the sparse gypsum keuper soils bring forth very special wines.

Cupulino rojo

In the wine village of Ulsenheim, a crew of inventive men have created an iconic drink: “Cupulino rojo”. The product the seven Ulsheimers calling themselves “U7” have come up attracts attention from the moment people first catch sight of the unusual bottle: a small vessel with cherry syrup “hovers” in the crown cap bottle filled with white wine. Only on pouring do both mix to create a special taste experience in the glass. Cupulino rojo can be purchased directly from U7 in Ulsenheim or in various regional beverages markets. www.cupulino.de
