Welcome to the South

The southern tip of the Franconian winegrowing region retains all its beguiling charm today. Sun-blessed vineyards meld with fields, meadows and forests to form a delightful landscape. This unspoiled countryside in the south of the Steigerwald forest nature park borders on the nature park Frankenhöhe to the east.

Bizarre gypsum formations and impressive displays of colour when rare flowers blossom in spring – the Middle Franconian Bocksbeutel Road is also a gateway to pristine nature.

Unmistakable as they stalk through lush meadows and circle over their nests, storks give the Aisch valley, in particular, much of its character and can readily be observed in its villages and the meadows that surround them. But other interesting fauna is found here, too.

Coppiced woodlands and pannage

The centuries-old practice of pasturing sheep and pigs in coppiced woodlands with standards (the uncoppiced, full-growth trees anchoring the coppice lands and providing the animals with food) has left traces along the Middle Franconian Bocksbeutel Road which are remarkable from the perspectives of both natural and cultural history.

Expansive vistas out to the disappearing horizon. Splendid panoramic scenery and marvellous moments can be experienced from the most varied viewing points.

You might find this interesting.
